The Gong Knows: A Corporate Gong Bath
Last Friday, I had the privilege of offering a gong bath to a wonderful group from Sweaty Betty Richmond, at the amazing 50 Hill Rise studio.
Let me give you a little insight into gong baths. When I facilitate a session, my number one responsibility is to step aside from my ego and play intuitively. Any thought of “I need to give a great gong bath” has to walk right out the door. I am simply a conduit.
Yes, I have the training—we learn strokes, sequences, techniques, healing, client handling, etc. —and we also learn that real role of a gong player is to let go and get lost in the playing. The gong has a powerful magic of its own and the gong player shall not interfere. When I surrender to that, the magic of the gong flows through me. It picks up on the energy of the group and creates the sounds and vibrations that are needed in that very moment.
When I say it was a privilege to play for this group, I mean it. Every session is special, but last Friday, I could feel the energy in the room so clearly. The gong’s voice was unusually strong for a new group, and I even heard sounds from it I’d never heard before. That was a gift.
This is exactly what a Corporate & Community Gong Bath is about. It’s inspiring to see businesses investing in the wellbeing of their teams. Watching how this group connected with each other reminded me what being part of a team is really about—showing up with openness, a certain ease, and definite connection to each other.
Thank you, ladies, and a heartfelt thanks to 50 Hill Rise for welcoming us. I look forward to playing for you all again soon!
